Preparation

  1. Fried Mackerel

    • Cut off the left and right fins, the top fin, and a small part of the lower tail fin of the mackerel.
    • Cut the fish into steak-sized pieces, about 2 cm thick. For the end pieces, cut them in half and butterfly them.
    • Soak the fish in water to clean out any remaining innards. Once clean, remove from water and dry with kitchen tissue.
    • Season the fish with Knorr Rostip, salt, and pepper, ensuring even coverage.
    • Coat the fish with fine breadcrumbs, making sure all sides are well covered.
    • Place the fish in a non-stick pan with oil and heat for 3 minutes on one side.
    • To flip the fish, use a pizza tray or a flat round pan lid, drain the oil first, then flip.
    • Cook the other side for 2 minutes. Remove from the pan using the same method.
  2. Sambal Matah Coleslaw

    • In a bowl, mix shallots, lemongrass, red chilies, bird's eye chilies, and kaffir lime leaves.
    • Add Best Food Real Mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, honey, Knorr Lime Powder, grilled shrimp paste, and fish sauce. Mix well and chill in the refrigerator.
    • Sambal matah coleslaw can be served as a dipping sauce or a side dish.
    • Place the fried mackerel on a serving plate, garnish with mixed salad, lemon wedges, toasted bread, and sambal matah coleslaw.
